Thandeka Designs is the business that is a true-life testimony of real-life women who took hold of a tiny opportunity that came their way.
Through dedication to learning and hard work, we have turned it into a self-sufficient, financially stable and opportunity-filled business.
Our story began with the Masimanyane Project, sponsored by Rotary Club, Strand, aimed at teaching women to knit, sew and crochet.
From this small beginning of meeting once a week, a group of women have developed a mature business that offers us a way to improve our standard of life.
Our craft is centred around glass beads, wire work and copper wire. We also produce a range of stainless steel lighting and interior décor items.
We women of Thandeka Designs, Nosakhele (Angie), Nomzamo (Mina), Nozuko, Eneiecie and Gregan operate our modernised copper-wire craft business across the road from Lwandle Township in Somerset West.
