My Textile Art has two main art components. The first part is the design and creation of an artistic piece of textile that can be appreciated in its own right. The second part is the imaginative integration of that piece of textile art into the artistic design of a functional item that makes best use of the design captured in the textile.

While there is clearly some cross-linking of these two parts with the end product that may be in mind, sometimes influencing the design of the piece of textile art, I make sure that in the composite product, both components make their own positive contribution to the result.

The original inspiration for my work came from a visit to an "Innovative Threads" textile art exhibition. I was driven to haul out my sewing machine and started experimenting to find my own style and form of expression in this art form.

Soon I found ways to combine fabrics with oversewn threads, making maximum use of colours and textures to create the images I had in mind. Buttons, beads, wool and other trim added to the style of my textile art.

Next came the design of bags, cushions and quilts using these pieces or textile art, and my own unique range was born. Some textile art pieces of sufficient size and special merit are given wall-hanging status to best show off their designs.  My textile art offers an intriguing, pleasing, colourful and tactile experience. Come discover this for yourselves.
